The process of making dried flowers
The process of making dried flowers can be divided into the following steps:
First, the preparation stage
1. Selection: Choose the first blooming or blooming flowers, it is best to pick between 9 am and 11 am, when the flowers are most full. Avoid choosing flowers that show signs of wilting or moth infestation.
2. Treat the flower branches: Remove all leaves from the peels, sort them by variety, and place flowers of the same variety together. For flowers with larger crowns, they can be treated individually.
Second, the production process
1. Air drying method
- Tie the sorted flowers with rubber bands and hang upside down in a warm, airy place, away from direct sunlight.
- Wait 2 to 4 weeks until the petals become brittle, which means that the air drying is complete.
2. Microwave method
- Choose varieties with many petals that do not fall off easily, and remove leaves and excess flower branches.
- Lay the flowers flat on paper towels or blotting paper and heat in the microwave.
- Depending on the type of flowers and the power of the microwave oven, the heating time may vary, generally requiring 2-5 minutes of heating. Heat and remove to cool naturally.
3. Silicone drying method
- After cleaning the flowers, cut off the stems and leaves, leaving only 2-3 cm of stems.
- Pour silicone powder into the container and place the flowers in, making sure to leave a gap between each flower.
- Pour in enough silicone powder to completely cover the flowers, then close the container tightly. Wait for 5-7 days and remove the flowers.
Third, follow-up treatment
1. Styling: For some flowers that are easy to deform, they can be shaped with hair spray or dried flower styling solution after air drying to maintain their shape.
2. Storage: Store the dried flowers in a cool, dry and ventilated place, away from direct sunlight and damp environment.
The above is the basic process of making dried flowers, the specific method may vary depending on the flower variety and the actual situation. During the production process, adjustments and innovations can be made according to personal preferences and actual situations.
